About Me (Emily) and My Health Journey 

My journey to overall health and wellness was not an easy one. In my younger days, I struggled with my self confidence and never felt good enough. My whole life revolved around what others thought about me, and I was always trying to "fit in", but never being my true self. I secretly struggled with mental health issues for years, never being able to talk about it in fear of being judged. When I moved away from home to go to university, my mental health started to become a major issue in my life. Not to mention that my diet was poor and I had no idea how to properly manage stress. I started to go workout as a means of stress management, but eventually this led me to a somewhat unhealthy obsession with going to the gym, constantly monitoring and feeling guilty about what I was eating. I developed body dysmorphia,  which further fuelled by anxiety. I also developed a few digestive issues, and always felt bloated and cranky (no fun!). I had no clue what was going on in my body and I was sick of feeling tired all the time! 

Then, I made a decision that enough was enough. Something needed to change. I knew there so was much more to life. The only way I was able to manage my health was through lifestyle and mindset change.

Through Health Coaching and sharing my passion for health and wellness, I was able to love and accept myself and value the gifts that I bring to this world. My self confidence is soaring and I love bringing the same feeling to others. I was able to clear all my digestive problems, and finally was able to stop thinking about food! Most importantly, I manage my mental health without the use of medication. I wake up every morning feeling energized, vibrant and ready to take on the day!

My goal is to share this passion and knowledge with the world!

WHY A HEALTH COACH?

As I was working in the rehabilitation field, I realized that there was something more for me! I wanted to help patients change the habits that were holding them back from achieving their best health. That's when I discovered my true passion of Health Coaching and I am on a mission to change the way we look at health! Through my Health Coach training I discovered how to work through my heath problems (because no one is perfect!), and now I want to help you make the change!

Now feeling like my best self ever, I am not holding anything back. I love my body and my life. I look at each new day as a gift that must be experienced to the fullest potential. I eat to fuel my body and no longer experience sugar cravings (yay!). I know that I have a unique gift and passion to share with others, and I am not afraid to be my authentic self. I believe in my heart that we are meant to be and feel ALIVE, not just to live.

MORE ABOUT ME & MY TRAINING

I am an avid mountain biker, skateboarder, snowboarder, hiker, dare devil, yoga enthusiast (or trying to be!) and life liver.

I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in honours Kinesiology and Physical Education with a minor in Psychology. I started Embrace Health and Fitness in 2016(and have now changed my branding to Emily Grinton Coaching) and hope to continue growing and helping others embrace a healthy lifestyle!

I am a certified Personal Trainer, Soft Tissue Release Provider, Registered Kinesiologist, CSEP- Certified Exercise Physiologist and Certified & Registered Holistic Health Coach.

As an Exercise Physiologist, I am able to work with those with multiple chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, fibromyalgia, as well as many more conditions. It is important that those with chronic health conditions to use a professional that understands the complications of each condition.

As a Holistic Health Coach, I look to help others transform their lifestyle habits so they can lose weight, gain energy, feel confident and fully embrace the experience of life. 

I am very passionate about helping others improve their lives through health and wellness. I have experience in personal training, corporate wellness, exercise prescription, cardiac rehabilitation and injury rehabilitation. 

I love what I do, and I love sharing my passion with others!
